As the holiday travel season gets underway, Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is ready to welcome travelers with a seamless airport experience during an extended peak travel period.
Between December 20–28, PSP expects to welcome more than 55,000 departing passengers over an eight-day holiday peak period. The busiest travel days are expected to be Tuesday, December 22, Friday, December 26, and Sunday, December 28, with those peak days averaging more than 6,800 departing passengers per day.
Peak security screening times are expected between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., when up to 700 passengers per hour may pass through the security checkpoint. TSA’s full screening capacity will be in place, and travelers can check real-time security wait times at flyPSP.com before arriving.
Arrive Early
Passengers checking bags should arrive at least two hours before departure. Travelers with carry-on bags only should plan to arrive 90 minutes before departure, especially during peak morning hours.
Parking and Transportation
Main parking lots may fill during peak travel days. Overflow parking will be available, with shuttle service operating during peak periods. Travelers are encouraged to check parking availability in advance at flyPSP.com. Rideshare services, taxis, and SunLine Transit remain convenient alternatives.
Travelers should be aware of new parking rates effective November 24, 2025, approved by Palm Springs City Council in September:
- Hourly: $9.00
- Daily Maximum: $26.00
- Overflow Parking: $18/day — a great cost-saving option!
These rates support recent parking enhancements at PSP, including smart access systems, license-plate recognition, and expanded mobile payment options.
Dining and Terminal Experience
PSP’s refreshed terminal continues to expand this holiday season, with 13 new shops and restaurants now open across the airport. During peak periods, some locations may be busy; grab-and-go options remain available throughout the concourses.
PSP’s Stay & Play Visitor Pass is also available for guests who wish to meet arriving passengers at the gate or escort departing travelers through security, subject to availability and TSA approval. Details and availability can be found at flyPSP.com/StayAndPlay.
TSA Travel Reminders
- Wrapped gifts: Consider using gift bags instead of wrapping paper, as wrapped items may need to be opened during security screening.
- Liquids and food items: Liquids, gels, and food items such as sauces or gravies must be 3.4 ounces or less and fit within a single quart-sized bag.
Palm Springs International Airport encourages travelers to plan ahead and visit flyPSP.com for the latest information throughout the holiday travel season.
