Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) delivered another record-setting year in 2025, fueled by sustained passenger growth, new routes, and a series of milestones that underscore the airport’s rising demand.

PSP welcomed more than 3.3 million passengers in 2025, representing an increase of approximately 2.4% compared to 2024.

PSP set five all-time monthly passenger records during the year, including March 2025 — the busiest month in the airport’s history — when nearly half a million travelers passed through the terminal.

That momentum carried across much of the calendar, with nine months recording year-over-year passenger growth, signaling consistent demand well beyond peak travel periods.

Airport officials said the increase in passengers reflects more people choosing to fly from PSP, and that the airport continues to support the local economy by connecting the region to jobs, businesses, and essential travel. Passenger growth was driven primarily by increased domestic travel demand, reflecting continued interest in the Coachella Valley as a year-round destination.

“We’re proud to see more travelers choosing to fly from Palm Springs,” said Harry Barrett, Jr., Executive Director of Aviation. “It reflects the strength of our air service and the convenience of PSP. Every trip that starts here supports local jobs, helps sustain the regional economy, and creates momentum for expanding nonstop air service that benefits the entire Coachella Valley.”

Despite welcoming more travelers, PSP handled about 3,800 fewer commercial flights in 2025 than at pre-pandemic levels, a decrease of about 6%. This shift reflects a fundamental change in how airlines serve Palm Springs. As demand has grown, carriers have increasingly deployed larger mainline aircraft in place of smaller regional jets. These newer aircraft carry more passengers per flight and are quieter, more fuel-efficient, and more environmentally friendly, allowing PSP to accommodate record passenger volumes while reducing overall flight activity.

At the same time, the airport continued investing in infrastructure and the guest experience through Progress PSP, its long-term program of terminal and facility improvements. In 2025, PSP opened new shops and restaurants, expanded passenger seating and charging, installed new shade structures, upgraded flight information displays, added water bottle filling stations, overhauled the airport’s Wi-Fi system, recreated iconic midcentury modern curbside seating, installed new passenger elevators, and remodeled a key conference space.

Additional improvements are already underway, including an expanded zero-emission vehicle fleet, 80 new electric vehicle charging stations in the main terminal parking lot, a smart parking and access upgrade, and other enhancements designed to support continued growth and improve guest experience.
